Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy & Sourcing Standards

GoldRate.app publishes live gold and silver prices and original explanatory content for Indian buyers, investors, and jewellers. This page describes how our prices are calculated, how our editorial content is created, and how we handle corrections and conflicts of interest.

1. Pricing Sources & Methodology

All gold and silver prices on GoldRate.app are derived from publicly available, industry-recognised market data sources:

  • MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange of India): primary domestic gold & silver futures reference. Used for the live India base rate.
  • LBMA (London Bullion Market Association): global spot gold and silver benchmarks. Used for the international price input.
  • COMEX / NYMEX: US gold and silver futures market — used for after-hours global price reference and for comparison.
  • IBJA (India Bullion and Jewellers Association): the daily bullion reference rate used widely by Indian jewellers and banks.
  • State and City Jewellers' Associations: for local premium adjustments (e.g., MJDMA Chennai, BJA Bangalore, AKGSMA Kerala, TCJA Hyderabad, Delhi Bullion Association).
  • RBI / Authorised currency providers: for live USD/INR and multi-currency exchange rates used in world-price calculations.

City-level prices are computed as (MCX base rate per gram for the relevant karat) + (local jewellers' association premium). Premiums are reviewed periodically against publicly published association rates and adjusted when associations announce changes.

Prices update on the website typically every 30 seconds during market hours and every 1–5 minutes outside market hours. Live rates are subject to a small data-feed delay; we recommend confirming with a local jeweller before any large transaction.

2. Editorial Content Standards

Our learning centre, city pages, and explanatory content (calculators page, gold loans, learn articles) are written by our in-house editorial team with reference to:

  • The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmarking notifications and consumer-affairs publications
  • Reserve Bank of India circulars on gold loans, KYC, and Sovereign Gold Bonds
  • Ministry of Finance Customs notifications on gold import duty rates
  • SEBI guidelines on gold ETFs and chit schemes
  • World Gold Council annual demand-and-trends reports
  • Public statements and rate cards from BSE/NSE-listed jewellery chains (Tanishq/Titan, Kalyan, Senco, Thangamayil, etc.)

Each editorial article is reviewed before publication for factual accuracy, regulatory accuracy, and clarity. We do not republish content from third parties without rewriting and verifying it. Any third-party reference is cited inline or in the article's reference section.

3. Independence & Conflicts of Interest

GoldRate.app is an independent publisher. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or financially controlled by any jeweller, bank, NBFC, or commodity exchange. Our editorial team has full independence to write about hallmarking, making charges, jeweller practices, and gold loan terms without commercial direction from any external party.

We earn revenue from display advertising (Google AdSense and other ad networks) and from clearly-labelled sponsored sections on the calculators, news, and world-prices pages. Sponsored sections are visually marked as such; they do not influence editorial content elsewhere on the site.

When we mention specific jewellery retailers in our city pages, we do so because they are established, multi-decade businesses with publicly verifiable presence — not as paid placements. We do not accept payments to be listed in city or learn pages. If you spot a content recommendation that appears commercially placed, please contact us at hello@goldrate.app and we will review it.

4. Corrections & Updates

If you spot an error in our pricing, methodology, editorial article, or city information, please email hello@goldrate.app with the URL and the specific issue.

Our correction process:

  • Pricing or methodology errors are addressed within 24 hours of verification.
  • Editorial corrections are made within 2–3 working days, with the corrected article retaining a brief edit note where the change is material.
  • Regulatory or rate changes (e.g., import duty, GST, BIS rules) are reflected on the site as soon as the official notification is published.

Major content updates (e.g., the 2024 Union Budget changing gold import duties) are reflected with a new published date on the relevant article.

5. Affiliate & Sponsored Disclosures

Where we link out to third-party services (banks, NBFCs, jewellery chains, gold-investment platforms), some of these links may earn GoldRate.app a referral fee if a reader signs up. These links are clearly labelled where applicable. Editorial recommendations are made on merit, not on referral economics.

We do not place affiliate links inside our city gold-rate pages or our hallmarking / making-charges / GST explainers — these are pure editorial pages.

6. Privacy, Data Use & Cookies

GoldRate.app uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and to serve relevant advertising (Google AdSense). We do not collect personally identifiable information beyond what is voluntarily provided through the contact form. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer

The prices and editorial content on GoldRate.app are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, or legal advice. Gold and silver prices are volatile and can move significantly within minutes. The rates we display are derived from market data feeds and may differ from the rates offered by your local jeweller, bank, or refiner.

Always verify the actual transaction rate with the jeweller, refiner, or financial institution before any purchase, sale, or pledge of gold. GoldRate.app does not accept liability for any financial loss arising from reliance on the information published on the site.

8. Contact & Editorial Inquiries

For editorial inquiries, corrections, partnerships, or press queries, write to us at hello@goldrate.app or use our contact form. We aim to respond to editorial correspondence within 2 working days.
